SuperSonic |
| Set in Birmingham’s vibrant art complex, The Custard Factory, SuperSonic is the brainchild of the Pre Millenial Tension crew. They set up the Capsule label when they got fed up at the lack of venues in Birmingham to show off its art and music, and three years ago it expanded into a two day festival. Friday’s the kick-off, open from 9pm-3am, with the festival proper on Sunday. Expect the most twisted beats running alongside film from 7 Inch Cinema, and a nice lot of markets for those needing to buy stuff. We wholly recommend emptying the cake stall.

| ACTS YOU MUST SEE: Shitmat, DJ Scotch Egg, Ras B & Warrior Queen, The Countryside Alliance Crew |
Creamfields |
| The original organised rave makes a second move, this time to the Daresbury Estate in Halston. From hardcore techno through electronica and house, the daddy of all dance festivals never fails to deliver a cracking line-up and this year’s no exception. Electro glitzmeister Felix Da Housecat and 2 Many DJs highlight the Chibuku Arena, with DJ Shadow, Andy C and Planet Pendulum sorting out the Beatdown Arena. The Keep It Tidy crew brings Lisa Pin Up, The Tidy Boys and more to the Tidy Arena for the hardest house.

| ACTS YOU MUST SEE: Annie Mac, Roger Sanchez, The Prodigy, Felix Da Housecat, Paul Oakenfold, Andy C |
The Big Chill |
| A festival for grown-ups who want to dance without getting spat on, The Big Chill is the elegant older sister of Creamfields. Set in beautiful parkland, the Chill has endless spaces to relax, and a little enclosed beach for the terminally blissed out. Don’t be fooled by its sweet nature though, the Club Tent has some sharp acts on offer with the emphasis on the underground side of things. |
| ACTS YOU MUST SEE: Mr Scruff, Nathan Fake, Bugz In The Attic, Digitonal, X-Press 2, Coldcut |
The Glade Festival |
| Its hard-line no corporate ethos has meant a small price hike to £105 this year, but if you’ve been to the Glade before you’ll know how worth it it is. This year it’s all being kept a secret til the last minute – location included – but the last years have drawn loyal fans to its original Berkshire base. Nine stages of the best electronic music mix with a truly awesome atmosphere: if you haven’t already been converted, now’s the time to enter the Glade.

| ACTS YOU MUST SEE: They’ve got the line-up under wraps this year, but you won’t go wrong wherever you end up. |
Global Gathering |
| A hedonistic mash-up in the middle of Shakespeare country, Global Gathering aims to link party goers around the world hand by hand. Nah, it’s all about the dancing really, and with a line-up as long as your arm, you’d be hard pressed to find some time to chill out and have a sit down. Then again, that’s not really what it’s all about now, is it? |
| ACTS YOU MUST SEE: Micky Finn, Fabio And Grooverider, Anne Savage, Hype, Nicky Blackmarket, Daft Punk |
