BEIRUT Tickets
Beirut began in 2006, as the solo musical project of Zach Condon. Since then it has expanded to become a band of ten that mashes up the styles of Balkan folk, indie rock and world music together to create a completely individual and unique sound that continuously draws in new fans.
Zach recorded his debut album Gulag Orkestar in his hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico and quickly secured a record deal. In May 2006 the album was released, coinciding with his first ever live performance in New York, with some friends as a backing band. Both were a success, with the album receiving critical acclaim and being named best album of 2006 by Rough Trade.

Beirut's second album The Flying Club Cup was recorded at Arcade Fire's studio in Quebec and has a much more French influence. Zach has put this down to his love for French film and culture, stating that it was his main reason for travelling to Europe at the age of 17.
Beirut has attracted a massive, loyal fan base since they began and a new album is in the pipeline - set for a 2011 release. They will be appearing with Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons and The Vaccines at London's Hyde Park Festival on 30th June, as well as Benicassim Festival in Spain on 17th July, followed by gigs in Manchester, Paris and London.
