BLACK SUBMARINE Tickets
Black Submarine will follow up supporting Echo & The Bunnymen with headline dates of their own in October.
Black Submarine, formerly known as The Black Ships, is an alliance forged between Simon Jones, Nick McCabe, Davide Rossi, Mig Schillace and Amelia Tucker.
During the last Verve album/tour in 2008, Nick McCabe met Davide Rossi, violinist and arranger with Goldfrapp and Coldplay. Davide eventually arranged 6 tracks on the Verve's last album 'Forth' and joined them live for some of their headline gigs at festivals such as Glastonbury, V, and Summercase.
Together with Simon Jones, Davide and Nick decided that their musical partnership should not end with the final days of the Verve reunion. Michele 'Mig' Schillace, drummer with Santa Cruz and Portishead, had been Nick's friend for some time and they already worked quite extensively on their 'Field Theory' project. Amelia came on board later, after being part of the band informally for some years
From the first recording session in Copenhagen, December 2008 until now, Black Submarine aim to explore a free, unconstricted, self-sufficient approach to music, where all aspects are guided by the five core members, from song-writing to production, artwork, video, image, performance and all that this entails.
After a sold out debut show in 2011 at KCLU, and self-released "Kurofune" EP (under the name The Black Ships), Black Submarine are now putting the finishing touches to their forthcoming debut album, whilst writing and recording new material, contributing tracks to "The Spirit of Talk Talk" and John Martyn tribute album "Johnny Boy Would Love This", and recording music for the feature film "Java Heat".
