A household name in indie/rock music Carl Barat has two huge bands under his belt - The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things. Co-fronting The Libertines with Pete Doherty led to one of the most widely publicised partnerships in music. However upon Pete's increasing involvement with drugs their relationship became strained in 2004 and The Libertines suffered for over six years as a result.

In the mean time Carl Barat switched his attention to his solo career in February 2005 and launched Dirty Pretty Things later that year in September. Dirty Pretty Things toured extensively on the festival circuit for three years before performing their last gig in London in December 2008, enabling Carl once again to focus on his solo project.

As a solo artist he supported Glasvegas in Edinburgh on New Years Eve 2008 and in the U.S. in January 2009. His first solo headliner shows were in March 2009 and he continued to tour various venues in Britain for the rest of the summer.

With an epic reunion performance of The Libertines at Reading/Leeds festivals in August 2010 Carl Barat was once again massive news. Combined with Pete the pair were catapulted back into the media. The obvious emotion between them on stage made headlines, creating excellent hype around the release of Carl's debut self-titled solo album, which was released in October 2010 to wide acclaim.
