Seattle based folk band Fleet Foxes have been around for just a few years but have very quickly risen to the top of their game, causing a stir with their use of refined lyrics, vocal harmonies and uplifting melodies.

With unforgettable performances at the SXSW and the Sasquatch! festivals in 2008 band members Robin Peckhold, Skyler Skjelset, Christian Wargo, Casey Wescott and Josh Tillman were launched into the public eye, attracting the European press and gaining a fan base on the other side of the Atlantic.

Fleet Foxes put their rise to success down to "word of mouth, illegal file-sharing and Myspace". In January 2008, after attracting over a quarter of a million song views on their Myspace page in just two months, Warner Music's label Sub Pop snapped them up and signed them to a record contract. The quintet was then able to release their debut album Fleet Foxes. Massively well received in Europe, it sold over 200,000 copies in the first five months of its release and won Uncut's first ever Music Award 2008 prize.

Their second album has been in the pipeline for about two years, with recording going on since April and two years of song writing behind it, however it seems that we can now expect it in May 2011.

As well as a massive European tour, Fleet Foxes are playing at Primavera Sound 2011 in Barcelona with bands such as Pulp, The National, Belle and Sebastian and Mogwai.
