This week's Kerrang! magazine cover stars Black Veil Brides have told us about their preparations for next month's Kerrang! Tour 2013.
The band, who released their new album 'Wretched And Divine' this week, will be joined by Chiodos, Tonight Alive, Fearless Vampire Killers and special guest DJ William Control on the 11-date tour.
"We're going to be bringing a new and more exciting show than ever before,"says vocalist Andy Biersack. "By the time we get to the UK, we're going to be well-oiled from touring the U.S. - we'll be at our very best.
"It's a great package," he continues. "I've checked out all the bands and I'm particularly excited by Fearless Vampire Killers. These will be the best shows we'll have ever done in the UK."
Get ready, the Kerrang! Tour is back for 2013 with 11 huge nights across the UK! Kerrang!, the UK’s biggest-selling music weekly magazine, have created another stellar line-up for February next year, featuring Black Veil Brides, Chiodos, Tonight Alive and Fearless Vampire Killers.
Following the success of the 2012 tour – which featured New Found Glory, The Blackout, letlive. and While She Sleeps – this year’s line-up features some of this year’s most talked-about and hotly tipped bands.
Black Veil Brides will head back across the Atlantic to headline the Kerrang! Tour after having a phenomenal year. They headlined their biggest UK tour to date and gained huge acclaim for their second album, Set The World On Fire.
Their new album, Wretched And Divine: The Story Of The Wild Ones, will be released in early 2013.
Andy Biersack, Black Veil Brides frontman, said: "I’m really excited to be part of the Kerrang! Tour 2013. It’s cool to be a part of something that has so much history that its reputation has crossed the Atlantic. Kerrang! have supported us since day one, so it feels like we have a great relationship. Our live show is a huge part of our band. We’ll be arriving battle-ready!”
Next February, Black Veil Brides will be joined by Michigan-based outfit Chiodos. The band recently announced their reunited line-up of Craig Owens (vocals), Bradley Bell (keyboards), Jason Hale (guitar), Pat McManaman (guitar), Matt Goddard (bass) and Derrick Frost (drums).
On the Kerrang! Tour, Chiodos will return to the UK to perform together with this line-up, for the first time since early 2009. At the shows, the band will be performing songs from their first two albums, All's Well That Ends Well and Bone Palace Ballet – which combined have sold over 500,000 units worldwide.
Also joining the Kerrang! Tour are the brilliant Sydney five-piece Tonight Alive. From supporting the likes of Lostprophets and The Blackout, to headlining their own tour, Tonight Alive just released their debut album, What Are You So Scared Of?, produced by Mark Trombino and featuring Mark Hoppus from Blink-182.
Completing the line-up are Kerrang! Best British Newcomer nominees Fearless Vampire Killers. Following the UK media’s unanimous vote of support – including a 4-K review in Kerrang! – their debut album ‘Militia Of The Lost’ went on to chart at No.31 in the Official UK Rock Chart on the week of the album’s release.
James McMahon, editor of Kerrang!, said: “It wasn’t hard to pick the bill for this Kerrang! Tour. We just listened to our readers, and then approached the bands they spoke to us most excitedly about. Between Black Veil Brides and Fearless Vampire Killers, that’s 50 per cent of our mailbag on any given week. Chiodos feature Craig Owens, and if I had a pound for every time someone asked Kerrang! for a Craig Owens poster, I’d have more than enough money to buy some of those nice new Converse, while Tonight Alive aren’t far behind at all: they're at least a shoe, maybe a shoe and a half. Anyway, this is the strongest tour we've ever had. It's going to be an absolute blast. Why is it not February already?"
Speaking about the Kerrang! Tour 2013:
Craig Owens, Chiodos “I can’t even describe how much I’m looking forward to the Kerrang! Tour. I’ve been bothering everyone to get us to the UK for ages. We want to make sure that we give the UK the attention they deserve, so I was desperate to make it happen. I’d like to think I have a good relationship with the UK fans. They seem to understand me a bit more. They’re not as quick to move on to the next thing, and they’re so intelligent. I don’t think there could be a better UK tour for Chiodos. I think people that haven’t seen us will be taken aback, because live is where we’re best…”
Jenna McDougall, Tonight Alive “I’m really excited that we get to be a part of the Kerrang! Tour 2013. It’s kind of surreal in a way; everything seems to be moving a lot faster in the UK than it has anywhere else before, so we’re very happy about it. We’re just so appreciative – it’s taken us so long to reach this point in other countries. Even in Australia it took us years to headline and to be accepted and supported, even though it’s our own country, and so the reaction and the support we’ve had from UK fans has been mind-blowing – and we love them! We’ve been on a couple of line-ups where each band is quite similar, and I like having the opportunity to stand out and to bring something different to the table. I think that’s what a crowd enjoys, too.”
Kier Kemp, Fearless Vampire Killers “I f**king blew my lid when I found out we were gonna be on the Kerrang! Tour 2013! If I was going to pick a dream line-up for a tour, I probably would have picked this one – it’s got everything that I could ever want and that our fans would really want. You’ve got bands that go really well with each other, and you’ve Tonight Alive tucked in there to make things a little bit exciting and happy! It’s an honour to join the bill, and we’ll be playing venues that we’ve dreamed of playing. We can’t wait!”
