Kings of Leon is an American rock band made up of three brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill. They formed in 1999 and have since earned themselves numerous awards and hoards of loyal fans. With the release of their second album Aha Shake Heartbreak in 2004 they massively expanded their fan base both in the UK and US.

Kings of Leon have toured with rock greats such as Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam, and their music is frequently used by movies – ‘Taper Jean Girl’ featured in the 2007 movie Disturbia and in Cloverfield in 2008.

Their third album Because of the Times was released in 2007, spawning hugely successful singles ‘Charmer’, ‘On Call’ and ‘Fans’. ‘On Call’ debuted at number one in the UK, selling around 70,000 copies in its first week.

Following on with a similar success, their fourth studio album Only by the Night was released in 2008 and debuted straight at number one on the UK Albums Chart, it was also certified nine times platinum. The album won many accolades, with debut single ‘Sex on Fire’ winning Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 51st Grammy Awards, and ‘Use Somebody’ winning Record of the Year, Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 52nd Grammy Awards.
