Owl City is the brainchild of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Adam Young. Forming in 2007 he created the electro musical project while experimenting with music and gained his early following through MySpace. He then signed with Universal Republic, propelling him into the mainstream.

Owl City’s debut release was named Of June and first saw popularity after it had been uploaded onto MySpace. Seeing the viral success of it, Universal Republic re-released it in 2007 where it reached number one on the US Billboard Dance/Electronica Albums chart. This was followed by Maybe I’m Dreaming which was similar to Of June in that it was also self-released – and reached the top 20 of the Billboard Dance/Electronica Albums chart, before Universal Republic pressed and re-released it once again. Maybe I’m Dreaming then received widespread critical acclaim and the track ‘The Technicolor Phase’ is also featured on Alice in Wonderland’s compilation album Almost Alice.

The third release Ocean Eyes (2009) was a success – including popular singles ‘Hello Seattle’ and ‘The Saltwater Room’. The album topped the iTunes chart, with lead single ‘Fireflies’ reaching number one on the Billboard chart.

September gigs will include material from the eagerly awaited fourth Owl City album All Things Bright and Beautiful which is set for release in June this year. The first single from this album ‘Alligator Sky’ was released in March and debuted at number one on the iTunes top Electronic song chart.
