Likened to acts like Fleet Foxes, Phosphorescent is the epitome of chilled out indie folk music, with a modern edge that makes his sound completely unique.
Most recent album 'Muchacho' is proving to be one of the year's most acclaimed releases and received 4* plaudits from both Q and Mojo.
A first UK live date since its release is being staged at Shepherd's Bush Empire, London on Nov 26th - Phosphorescent tickets for this gig will be available on Aloud.com from 9am on Friday May 17th
Before recording under the name Phosphorescent, Matthew Houck travelled the world playing as Fillup Shack. Under this moniker he released an album entitled Hipolit in 2000, before adopting the new alias of Phosphorescent and continuing on with his musical journey. While on tour he gives his fans a much wider experience of his music by enlisting the help of his touring band. This includes members Scott Stapleton (piano, voice), Jeff Bailey (bass, voice), Chris Marine (drums, voice) and Jesse Anderson Ainslie (guitar, voice).
His debut album A Hundred Times or More was released in 2003, and notably credits Fillup Shack with the drum recordings. A couple of years later, 2005 saw the release of second album Aw Come Aw Wry which brought national attention towards the band, while the third album Pride in 2007 was named the 12th best album of that year by Stylus Magazine.
