Earlier this week Glaswiegan synthpop trio, PRIDES, announced their new single I Should Know You Better which will be released on September 29. The track was Future first exclusive play on Zane Lowe’s show. The following evening Huw Stephen’s broadcast the bands Maida Vale session that was met with rave reviews. PRIDES are a band that own every venue they play so it is not surprising that after a phenomenal performance at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games and an announcement that they are headlining the BBC Introducing stage at Reading and Leeds Festival this summer, that they announce their very first UK headline tour this October.
Singer, Stewart Brock, says ‘We’re massively excited to announce our very first UK Headline tour. We’ll be returning to some of our favourite places along the way, and hitting up some new spots too. We’ve been really lucky to have played pretty solidly throughout the year with some amazing people, at some amazing places, so now we head out on our own. Like the start of some great Westerns, See you on the road.’
Proving that finally there is a band that digs up the dark and dirty synth of the 80’s and repurposes it for the eclectic and exciting heights of pop, PRIDES have spent the summer performing live across the UK and US to ecstatic crowds, gaining new fans continuously.
But none were as huge as the Commonwealth Games performance. Stewart Brock said ‘What can you say? Performing in front of a sold out arena in our hometown isn’t something we thought we’d be doing any time soon. A massive thanks to the thousands of performers who spent hours working out the routine to Messiah, hope you’re not sick of it! And of course to everyone hearing of us for the first time for getting in touch and saying how much you enjoyed it! Exciting things to come’.
