Forming in 1978 Pulp didn’t see much success until they were suddenly propelled into the mainstream during the Britpop era of the 90s, becoming icons alongside bands such as Blur and Oasis. The line up constantly changed, with the best known one as Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve MacKey, Russell Senior and Mark Webber.
It wasn’t until the release of their fourth and fifth albums His ‘n’ Hers in 1994 and Different Class in 1995 that Pulp became Britpop heroes. With Different Class in particular they gained four top ten singles including the iconic ‘Common People’ and also gained the Mercury Music Prize for it in 1996.
Continuing their massive rise to stardom they headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival twice and toured extensively.

However after their seventh album We Love Life was released in 2001, Pulp went on an extended hiatus – one that until now didn’t seem like it would ever be ending.
Good news for Pulp fans though - it has recently been announced that the ‘Different Class’ line up of alternative pop icons are re-forming for the first time in more than 10 years to headline Primavera Sound in Barcelona on 26 May and Wireless Festival in Hyde Park on July 3rd. You can expect to hear all your old favourites, so will definitely be worth a look!
