One of rock's most exciting and enduring bands, The Offspring have announced two special shows at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire this June where they will be performing their Ignition album in it's entirety along with new and classic songs. It's the 20th anniversary of Ignition, the band's first release on Epitaph Records. The Offspring have just finished a new album, Days Go By, with producer Bob Rock for a June release. The Offspring have performed over 1100 shows across the globe and are known for their many hits including "Self Esteem," "Come Out And Play (Keep 'Em Separated)," "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid." The Offspring will be heading to London this June for their only UK confirmed dates for 2012:
The Offspring is an American punk rock band formed in California in 1984. Having been around for almost 30 years there has been much rearrangement of members, with the current line up settling at Dexter Holland, Noodles, Greg K and Pete Parada.
During the mid 1990's, along with Green Day and Rancid, The Offspring had been credited with pioneering a revival in mainstream punk rock interest in the US, starting a new wave of fans within the genre.
To date The Offspring has released eight studio albums, one compilation, four EPs and three DVDS, selling over 50 million albums worldwide. As a result they have been heralded as one of the best-selling punk rock acts of all time, and their third album Smash released in 1994 is also the best selling independent label album of all time, going platinum six times and selling over a million copies. The success from this album caught the attention of major record label Columbia, who signed them in 1996, releasing their five further albums.
The release of Americana in 1998 saw multi-platinum success, while the two follow up releases Conspiracy of One in 2000 and Splinter in 2003 reached platinum and gold status respectively.
With an upcoming album rumoured for release in 2011, The Offspring will undoubtedly put on an unforgettable performance, well worth going to see.
