Australian comedian, actor and musician Tim Minchin burst onto the comedy scene in 2005 at South Melbourne’s Butterfly Club. He won the Director’s Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his break-out show 'Darkside', and followed this later the same year with one of the most successful debut acts ever at the Edinburgh Fringe – winning the Perrier Award for Best Newcomer.

His topics include environmentalism, prejudice and atheism, always wrapped up in a musical performance that would stand up on their own even if some of the lines didn’t make you laugh out loud (which they frequently do). He once wrote a song about his appreciation for his wife:

“If I didn’t have you to hold me tight, if I didn’t have you to lie with at night, if I didn’t have you to share my side and to kiss me and dry my tears when I cry, well I really think that I would… have somebody else. If I didn’t have you someone else would do. Your love is one in a million you couldn’t buy it at any price, but of the 9.999 hundred thousand other possible loves statistically some of them would be equally nice…or maybe not as nice but smarter than you, or dumber but better at sport or tracing I’m just saying I think I would probably have somebody else.”

Tim Minchin always performs barefoot, supposedly to make him feel more comfortable on stage. He also wears heavy eye makeup which is so his facial expressions can be expressed to his audience while he is sat at the piano. He will be performing in the UK in December in April.
