Foo Fighters was formed in 1994 by previous Nirvana drummer and all-round rock legend Dave Grohl, following the death of former Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain.

Originally planned out as a solo project with Dave performing all of the instruments himself, he eventually recruited band mates to join him. The current line up includes Dave Grohl, Chris Shiflett, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Pat Smear.

The American rock band has toured the world extensively, headlining many huge venues and festivals including London’s Hyde Park where they were supported by Juliette and the Licks, Angels & Airwaves, Queens of the Stone Age and Motorhead.

Foo Fighters have won numerous awards, including three Grammys for Best Rock Album in 2001, 2004 and 2008, Best Hard Rock Performance in 2003 and 2008 and Best Short Form Music Video in 2001. They were also awarded two BRITs in 2008 for Best International Group and Best International Album. More recently Dave Grohl won the Godlike Genius prize at the NME Awards in February 2011, celebrating by treating the audience of Foos fans to an unexpected sneak preview of their 7th studio album Wasting Light.

They went on to release this album in April 2011, to massive commercial success and critical acclaim. Wasting Light debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and reaching the top spot in several countries including Belgium, Sweden, Australia and Canada. They’re coming to Milton Keynes Bowl on July 2nd and 3rd.
